Education Grants
Important Information regarding Ngāti Kuia Education Grants – Please Read
New rules mean that only registered Ngāti Kuia whānau members can now receive grants. You must provide your Ngāti Kuia Registration Number on all future applications. To receive your Ngāti Kuia Registration Number or to check if you or your whānau are registered, please email the person’s name, date of birth and current address to grants@ngatikuia.iwi.nz. As we receive over 1000 applications, we are expecting an influx of enquiries. Please allow us time to respond to the emails. Only call the 0800 number if you do not have access to email or you have not heard back from us within a few days of sending your enquiry.
Primary School (Years 0-8) applications will be managed by Ngāti Kuia.
Secondary School (Years 9-13) and Tertiary grants will be managed on our behalf by the Māori Education Trust. You will need to create an account at www.maorieducation.org.nz. Additional requirements for these grants also include either NSN or Student ID numbers and proof of bank account i.e., deposit form or electronic statement. Please have these ready when creating your account. NSN and Student ID numbers can be obtained from schools or universities and by calling NZQA on 0800 697 296.
